Some mid-week “dirt”…

• Ben Limback has resigned as the head coach at Concordia (MI) to focus solely on his responsibilities as the Director of Admissions at the school. Assistant Coach Matt Distelrath will be named as his replacement. Distelrath has been on the staff for the past five seasons and was a player at Concordia before that. Look for the official announcement in the next day or so.

• I can confirm that Travis McAvene has been named as the head coach at Southern States Community College (OH). He most recently served as the head coach and general manager of the Cincinnati Slam (UBA), and has also been the head coach at Wilberforce University and Indiana University East.

• I blogged earlier in the week about the finalists for the Fishburne Military Academy (VA) assistant position (http://hoopdirt.com/blog/8bdfcda2/daily-dirt-7-16-12/…). I can now confirm that the choice will be Tennessee Chattanooga DBO Brian Benator. He has been on the UTC staff since 2009 and was a GA at North Georgia College before that. The official announcement should be made in the next few days.

• The University of Maine at Machias has narrowed their list of candidates for their vacant head coaching position to four. I can confirm that one of the candidates is Keene State associate head coach Matt Adams. The on-campus interviews will take place next week.
