Daily Dirt – 9/21/16

Here are some things that I’ve heard…

  • Last night, I posted some updates on DI graduate assistants who have recently been hired (GA DIRT). Here’s another one…Columbia has named Dan Sokolovsky as their graduate manager. He graduated from Hunter College (NY) in 2015, and spent last year working at Commonwealth Academy.
  • Speaking of GA’s…Alaska Anchorage has hired Scott Friel as a graduate assistant. He wrapped up his playing career at Brigham Young-Hawaii last season.
  • I can confirm that Barrett Lauer has departed Sul Ross State (TX) and joined Billy Gillispie’s staff at Ranger College (TX). Lauer, a Texas native, played collegiately at the University of St. Thomas (TX).
  • Carter Roche will be added as an assistant coach at MIT. The 2014 Endicott graduate had spent the past two seasons as an assistant at Wentworth Institute of Technology (MA).
  • Roche’s replacement at Wentworth will be Brian Tobin. He had been at Becker since 2013, and has also served as an assistant at Wheelock College (MA) and worked for the Mass Elite (AAU).
  • Jack Dignan has been hired as assistant coach at Sarah Lawrence College (NY). Dignan is a recent graduate of SUNY-Oneonta where he was the team captain and starting guard last season. He joins Lawrence Schuler, who was hired earlier this summer, as the new assistant coaches on head coach Chris Ehmer’s staff.
