DII DIRT: Leaf Resigns at Winona State

According to multiple sources, Mike Leaf has resigned as the head coach at Winona State this morning.  In 17 seasons at WSU, Leaf compiled a 382-152 record which includes winning the 2006 and 2008 NCAA Division II National Championships, and setting an NCAA Division II record with 57 consecutive wins over a span that reached from Jan 13, 2006 to March 22, 2007. Leaf was an assistant at the school for nine seasons before taking over as the head coach in 1998.  More on this as I hear it.
