Job Summary:

Located in the Men’s Basketball Office in the Athletic Department, this position serves as the Director of Player Personnel and Assistant to the Head Coach. Responsible for strategic development and implementation of all on campus recruiting program/plans for prospective student-athletes for UNC’s men’s basketball coaches. Managing and coordinating all aspects of recruiting within strict NCAA rules and regulations. Manages recruitment database, develops brochures, maps out plans for player tapes, organizes official campus visits, maintains relationships with High School Coaches. Responsible for event planning and management; creating and/or updating all current and future social media. Coordinates video shoots with New Media and provide minor editing as well as on camera spots. Collaborates with local community organizations and schools to establish community outreach opportunities for student-athletes, coaches, and staff. Ensure that all events and activities are conducted in compliance with all departmental, University and NCAA rules and regulations. Develop and coordinate career development opportunities in conjunction with the life skills program and the Richard A. Baddour Carolina Leadership Academy.

Minimum Qualifications:

Basketball terminology and athletic specific information such as basketball positions, plays, evaluation methods, techniques and strategies used by the coaches. Professional Knowledge: Understand program, mission, organization and culture of a highly visible Division 1 Basketball program and the importance of compliance with all University, Department of Athletics, NCAA, ACC and NABC rules and regulations as they govern the duties of the position. Some technical knowledge of state of the art audio/video technology and equipment and ability to develop audio/video content; to meet quality standards as required by the coaching staff. Communication/Public Relations skills: Work involves both internal and external communication efforts that include communicating and connecting with Alumni and key donors; initiating, developing, and maintaining working relationships with individuals from other college and university organizations. Experience in life skills and knowledge of student-athlete development Effective verbal and written communications skills; demonstrated public relations and interpersonal communications skills in order to effectively communicate with staff, administrators, student-athletes, coaches, parents and community members; demonstrated computer skills using MS Office, social media outlets and database management. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and meet established deadlines. Ability to convey information orally to individuals and groups to ensure they understand, and the ability to listen and respond appropriately to information from coaching staff, and others associated with a nationally ranked basketball program.Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree helpful.
