The Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach will work with the head coach in helping to teach the skills necessary for a successful athletics program. The successful candidate will assist in organizing and conducting individual student-athlete workouts, team practices, opposing team scouts and game day preparations. The Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach will assist in the evaluation and recruitment of qualified prospective student-athletes, preparation and management of the team operating budget and help to develop a team recruitment plan that will include travel, mailings and budget maintenance. It is imperative that the Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach comply with all NCAA, NEWMAC and Wheaton College rules and regulations and help to ensure all student-athletes do the same. Travel locally, regionally and nationally to find prospective student-athletes and the ability to transport teams by van as needed is required.

Bachelor’s degree in related field required and one to three years of high school or collegiate coaching experience required. Collegiate playing experience preferred. Individuals must possess the skills and abilities or be able to teach and demonstrate all aspects of the sport they are assisting in. The successful candidate will perform all other essential functions of the job, with or without accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

Licenses:
Current and valid driver’s license required and successful completion and maintain Wheaton’s College Van License A.

Other Preferences:
The candidate must be able to work independently and have the ability to work evenings and weekends from September through May to accomplish the tasks necessary for success in this field.
