Back on 8/22, HoopDirt.com mentioned that Mike Hart would be named as an assistant coach at Colorado College. The move has now been made official…

Mike Hart, who worked his way up from an un-recruited walk-on to a two-year starter for Gonzaga University, has joined the Colorado College men’s basketball program as an assistant coach.

“Mike is a great addition to our staff,” head coach Andy Partee said. “He brings a wealth of experience as a player and coach from a Gonzaga culture that has been nationally recognized for its sustained excellence. Mike is a tireless worker, and will be a terrific fit for our student-athletes.”

Hart’s primary responsibilities will include on-court player development, assisting in practice and game planning, as well as scouting of opponents and film-exchange.
He also will assist with scheduling, planning youth and elite summer camps, alumni relations and monitoring the program’s service projects.

“I am thankful for the opportunity to join the Colorado College community,” Hart said. “I feel that Colorado College offers students an exceptional collegiate experience, and I am excited to start working with our student-athletes and positively contribute to that experience.”

Hart played for the Division I Bulldogs from 2008 through 2013, then spent the last two years as video coordinator and summer camp director under head coach Mark Few.

As a senior, Hart started 20 of 35 games and helped Gonzaga earn the school’s first-ever No. 1 ranking in the final Associated Press regular-season poll.

He was named the 2013 Defensive Player of the Year by the West Coast Conference and was recognized as the captain of Sports Illustrated All-Glue Team. Hart also was named Gonzaga Athletics’ Senior Athlete of the Year.

During his career, the Zags posted a 110-27 record and made four consecutive trips to the Big Dance.

At the end of his playing career, Hart quickly transitioned to a spot on the men’s basketball staff.

He served as the program’s expert on all things related to technology, particularly video capturing, editing and exchanging.

Hart also directed the team’s day-to-day operations, principally scheduling and communicating all team activities. He also assisted with advanced scouting of opponents and helped produce written and video scouting reports.

The Portland native earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Gonzaga in 2012 and then his master’s in the same subject the following year.
