Kegler has been an assistant men’s basketball coach at Madison College since 2011 and is currently the General Manager at JustAgame Fieldhouse in Wisconsin Dells, WI. In addition to his General Manager duties at JustAgame, Kegler also serves as the director and creator of the JustAgame Select AAU Basketball Program.
“Bill has extensive experience and the credentials needed to run our new Irwin A. and Robert D. Goodman Sports Complex as Madison College,” commented Director of Athletics, Steve Hauser. “In addition, Coach Kegler has been with our men’s basketball program for a number of years as an assistant and I know he will do a great job leading our program as he is an excellent teacher of basketball and will be a wonderful role model and mentor for our men’s basketball student-athletes.”
Bill has worked in many capacities in youth sports administration, management and coordination while at JustAgame Fieldhouse, IMG Academy and the National Sports Center. His vast experience with running youth sports camps, clinics, leagues and more will greatly benefit the Madison College Athletic Department in the operation of the new Goodman Sports Complex on the Madison College Truax campus.
Kegler’s off-the-court Madison College assistant basketball coaching responsibilities, under Scot Vesterdahl for the past five years, have expanded to recruiting, team volunteer opportunities, team building, study table and off-season workouts. Bill has also been involved with coaching JustAgame Select teams and instructing in numerous basketball camps.
“I would like to thank Steve Hauser and the Madison College family for giving me the opportunity to work with our students, campus and community via the Goodman Sports Complex and the men’s basketball program,” said new Madison College Head Basketball Coach, Bill Kegler. “I am excited to work towards achieving new heights for Madison College as we constantly set our sights on achieving new goals.”
After finishing as a four year starter and Capitol Conference Boys Basketball Player-of-the-Year at Waterloo High School, Coach Kegler moved on to play college basketball at UW-La Crosse. As a student-athlete at UW-La Crosse he was named team captain, recipient of the UW-La Crosse Men’s Basketball Dedication and Team Unity award and nominated to the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association All-Sportsmanship Team. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Sport Science with an emphasis in Sport Management and concentrations in Coaching Competitive Athletics and Strength and Conditioning in 2008. In 2011, he earned a Masters of Recreation in Sport and Tourism from University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana.
“Bill has a tremendous work ethic and knows what it takes to operate a facility and run a successful basketball program,” said Steve Hauser. ” I know that he is up for the challenge. We are fortunate to have a person with his work ethic, character and integrity join our staff on a full-time basis.”
