Marcus Gill, best known for being head coach of one of the nation’s top AAU programs, the All-Ohio Red Nike EYBL team, for the past four years, returns to the Albion College men’s basketball staff for the 2015-2016 season.
After graduating from Albion, Gill launched his coaching career immediately as an assistant at his alma mater where he stayed until 2006. The Detroit native majored in physical education and minored in health at Albion.
A point guard during his playing days, Albion won the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association championship his junior year with a 22-5 record. Gill was a captain when the Britons achieved another 20-win season (20-7) his senior year.
After his initial two-year stint at Albion, Gill was a graduate assistant at Siena Heights University in Adrian, Mich. In addition to serving as the junior varsity head coach from 2006-08, he completed a master’s degree in educational leadership.
He returned to Albion the next season for the 2008-09 season before joining the Ohio Wesleyan staff from 2009-11. In 2011, Gill was named Head Coach at Earlham College at the young age of 28.
After three seasons as Head Coach at Earlham, Gill returned to his alma mater in his current position as assistant director of admission and multicultural coordinator.
The All-Ohio Nike EYBL program has produced several Division I players along with several NBA draft picks.
