NC State Assistant Bobby Lutz Transitions to Administrative Role

So much for the Bobby Lutz to Georgia Tech rumors from earlier today.  Lutz will be moving on (presumably to clear space for Joe Dooley), but will remain at NC State in a different position within the athletic department. He has assumed the new role of Special Assistant to the Deputy Athletic Director for External Operations, Head Coach Mark Gottfried announced today.

“My family and I have loved our five years at NC State and are very proud of what we have accomplished,” said Lutz. “I look forward to aiding the program in my new role and will continue to give my very best effort.”

Lutz joined NC State head coach Mark Gottfried’s initial staff in 2011-12 after spending the prior year at Iowa State. He spent the previous 15 years at Charlotte, the final 12 as the 49ers head coach.

In his new role, Lutz will assist the Deputy AD for External Operations with a variety of administrative duties associated with the men’s basketball program, including assistance with the personal and academic development of student-athlete, housing arrangements, planning and logistics associated with the team’s upcoming foreign tour and other special projects.

“I’m grateful for all of Bobby’s contributions to our program and am pleased that he will continue to be of benefit to our student-athletes,” said Gottfried.
