The responsibilities of the assistant coach are to support the head coach in all phases of a highly competitive program including but not limited to: recruiting and retention of student athletes; practice and game preparation; academic monitoring and mentoring; team travel; public relations and fundraising; administration of summer camps; commitment to full compliance of the University, NCAA and GAC regulations. Additionally, the candidate will fulfill a secondary duty as Life Skills Coordinator and coordinate community service engagements for Mulerider Athletics within the Magnolia community.

Qualifications: bachelor’s degree required, master’s preferred; demonstrate evidence of successful experience in coaching; record of success in collegiate and/or interscholastic basketball coaching; effective communication, excellent written and oral communication skills with a strong attention to detail; interpersonal skills and commitment to total success of students.  All SAU employees are expected to demonstrate excellence in interpersonal behaviors and be committed to effective collaboration with colleagues.
