Lauf promoted to Assistant Coach at Toledo

Toledo Men’s Basketball Head Coach Tod Kowalczyk announced the promotion of Jordan Lauf to assistant coach on Thursday. Lauf has been a member of the Rockets’ staff the five years, four as the Rockets’ Director of Operations (2018-22) and one as a graduate assistant (2017-18).

Lauf has helped the Rockets to two Mid-American Conference titles, three National Invitation Tournament appearances and a 112-51 (.687) record during his time on the staff. Toledo’s 112 victories during this stretch rank 28th in the nation.

“Jordan is as deserving of a promotion as anyone I’ve ever been around,” Kowalczyk said. “He has been patiently waiting and we had an opening with Walter Offutt leaving for Illinois State. I think the world of Jordan as a person, and he has a great basketball mind along with a tremendous passion for Toledo Rocket Basketball.”

Lauf played at Toledo for four seasons (2013-17) and holds the school record with 133 games played. He graduated with a 3.310 grade-point average in business management major and earned Academic All-MAC honors on two occasions. As a senior, Lauf averaged a career-high 8.3 ppg, led the team with a 59.0 field-goal percentage and ranked second with a career-best 6.2 rpg. 

“I want to thank Coach Kowalczyk for this tremendous opportunity and am excited to continue my coaching journey as an assistant coach,” Lauf said. “Toledo has always been home for me and my family. I am extremely loyal and grateful for TK and the University of Toledo for everything they have provided me since coming here almost 10 years ago.”
