SUNY Oneonta head men’s basketball coach, Cameron Conover, has announced the addition of assistant coach Chad Boyles to his staff for the 2022-23 season. Boyles most recently served as the head assistant men’s basketball coach and sports information director at the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.
“I am thrilled to welcome Chad to our basketball program and the Oneonta community,” said Conover. “We have been fortunate to have numerous outstanding assistant coaches, and he has certainly prepared himself to be the next in that line. Chad comes highly recommended and has already hit the ground running.”
While serving as the head assistant at ACPHS, Boyles helped the Panthers secure ten commits to their 2022 recruiting class, the largest recruiting class in the program’s history. Boyle also has extensive AAU coaching experience and has worked with City Rocks Basketball and Upstate Scouting Service in addition to starting his program, Xplore Basketball. While with the City Rocks, Boyles was a head coach in their youth program and worked closely with their class of 2027 Made Hoops team.
“Chad loves the game of basketball and is an excellent communicator who will allow him to excel in all aspects of the position,” continued Conover. “Chad will improve our program and is eager to connect with our players and future recruits.”
Boyles graduated from SUNY Cortland with a degree in Sports Studies and was a three-year member and manager of the college’s club basketball team. In 2019-20, the team finished 17-1, were New England East Division Champions, and earned an NCAA Division III Tournament berth. Boyles graduated from Middleburgh Central High School, where he is the school’s all-time leader in assists and helped lead the school to a sectional final four.
