Peru State Hires Reggie Kindle as Assistant Coach

Peru State men’s basketball recently hired Reggie Kindle as its next assistant coach. This will be Coach Kindle’s second stint with the Bobcat basketball program.
 
Kindle was most recently the head coach of Southwestern Community College from 2021-2023, where he coached three All-Region players, multiple Spartans were awarded ICCAC Player of the Week honors, one NJCAA National Player of the Week, 27 Academic All-Region Players and won five games against NJCAA Top 20 DII Opponents.
 
 While at Southwestern Community College Coach Kindle kept a 100% graduation rate and a 100% retention rate while bringing in ten additional recruits during the 2021 season.
 
Coach Kindle’s program had a team GPA of 3.0, fundraised 24,000 dollars as well as coordinating summer camps while at Southwestern Community College.
 
He returns to Peru, where he had previously had a two-year stint as the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator from 2019-2021. While at Peru State he coached three Omaha World-Herald All-Midlands Honorees, two Second Team Heart All-Conference players, one NAIA All-American Honorable Mention and one Omaha World-Herald NAIA/NCAA DIII First Team All-Decade.
 
Coach Kindle also assisted in coaching seven Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes, five NABA Honor Courts, one NAIA Scholar-Team, one Heart Liston Award Winner. While with the Bobcats, Peru State earned a Top Athletic Department Champions of Character Mark.
 
He was responsible for practice planning, daily practice, gameday prep, stats and analytics, scouting and player development.
 
Coach Kindle also worked with game day staff delegation, social media content, organizing travel and coordinated recruiting responsibilities.
 
He was the head coach of the Junior Varsity (Now Varsity Reserve) program.
 
Coach Kindle was an assistant/graduate assistant at Doane University from 2017-2019 before coming to Peru State. Kindle coached one GPAC Freshman of the Year Winner, two Second Team All-GPAC and five Honorable Mention All-Conference GPAC players.
 
Kindle was also the head coach of JV Program at Doane. Coach Kindle got his start as a student assistant at Benedictine University at Mesa as a student assistant.
 
Kindle’s playing career included three stops: Riverside Community College, Benedictine University in Springfield, Ill., and Benedictine University at Mesa.

“Reggie has a strong work ethic and is a tireless worker. He brings head coaching experience at the Junior College level as well as assistant experience in the Heart,” said Coach Gentry.

Coach Kindle is married to Peru State Volleyball head coach Madison Kindle they reside in Peru with their dog Missy.
