Jeffery Willis has been named the new assistant coach for the Saint Xavier University men’s basketball team for the upcoming 2023-24 season. Willis spent the last four years at the University of Northwestern Ohio. While at UNOH, he helped recruit seven Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) All-Conference players. Willis also earned his master’s degree in business administration during his stint at Northwestern Ohio.
Before joining the Racers coaching staff, Willis started his coaching career at DME Sports Academy in Daytona Beach, Fla. as the lead post graduate assistant coach, working with all three of the boys’ basketball teams (Post Grad, High School Regional and High School National). He helped the 2018-19 Post Grad squad win the Sunshine Independent Athletic Association (SIAA) Post Grad Conference State Championship with the national team that season. A former NAIA player himself, Willis was a four-year varsity player at Bethany College (Kan.) and graduated with a double major in Business Administration and Sports Management.
Men’s basketball head coach Robert Ford had this to say about the addition of coach Willis: “I am very excited to add coach Willis to our coaching staff! He brings a wealth of knowledge, having been a player and a coach at the NAIA level. I believe he will add tremendous value to our program and I’m glad to have him here with us at Saint Xavier.”
