Full Time Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach 

FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY

Under direct supervision of the Head Basketball Coach and Director of Athletics, to assist with coaching of the Men’s Basketball team and all facets of the Men’s Basketball program.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work directly with the Head Coach on a daily basis performing all duties relative to the job.  
• Assist in coordinating visits by recruits and their families
• Direct Supervisor of our Junior Varsity Program.  Lead Recruiter, goal of 10 student athletes  on a yearly basis 
• Lead community engagement and service-learning opportunities within the sport program
• Assist in preparing timely and accurate documents, such as travel expense statements, itineraries, etc. 
• Create and coordinate initial analysis of future opponents
• Assist in monitoring academic progress towards graduation for men’s basketball student athletes
• Support the Lake Superior State Athletics Shared Vision 

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.  Experience in coaching at collegiate or high school level required.  Thorough knowledge and understanding of institutional, NCAA and Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rules, policies and regulations.  Knowledge of recruiting in State of Michigan and ability to judge high school players for talent to play Division II college basketball.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS

Adequate health and fitness to maintain long hours, busy schedule, and travel with teams, as required.  Use of gross motor skills for instruction of basketball team; ability to see, hear and speak clearly, with or without aids, to represent the university in public appearances, promotional and recruiting activities; physical ability to perform coaching and administrative functions; ability to work with numbers to monitor budgets.

Position 2- 

Part-time Assistant/Head JV Men’s Basketball Coach

PUBLISHED SALARY:    $10,000 plus Housing
