According to multiple reports, including one from Jeff Goodman, Sacramento State head coach David Patrick is expected to join Matt McMahon’s staff at LSU as the associate head coach. This will be Patrick’s second stint at LSU, having previously worked under Johnny Jones from 2012-16.
Patrick had spent the past two seasons at Sac St, where he went 24-42 (.364). He also spent two years as the head coach at UC Riverside (2018-20), putting together a 27-38 (.415) mark.
This is the second time Patrick has left a D1 HC job to become a high major associate head coach. Back in 2020, he resigned at Riverside and joined Eric Musselman’s staff at Arkansas.
More on this move once it becomes official.
