A few things that I’ve heard while still celebrating Banner #18 for the Celtics…
I have heard that West Georgia (headed D1) will add Willie Evans as an assistant coach and Jalen Sasser as a graduate assistant. Evans played at UWG and had most recently been working for On the Radar Hoops in Atlanta. He also spent time as a GA at South Florida. Sasser is a 2023 UWG grad who spent last season as an assistant at Chattahoochee Valley CC.
Stu Engen joined the staff at Idaho State. He sent the past 12-seasons as the head coach at NJCAA D1 North Dakota State College of Sciences where he went 323-60. Idaho State head coach Ryan Looney was an assistant at Wisconsin-LaCrosse back in the early 2000’s when Engen was the head coach there.
There is an opening on the staff at Towson – it’s wide open. If you’re interest, you know what to do…
It sounds like the search at D3 Hartwick is just about done. Names that I have heard here are: former Albany head coach Will Brown (spent last season as the WBB Coach at St. Rose), current Hartwick interim head coach Nick Doran, Hamilton assistant Brad Cooper, a NY D3 HC, and a PA D3 HC. Could be an announcement here any day.
Bob Ludwig will be hired as an assistant at D2 St. Leo. Ludwig, the former head coach at Peru State (NE) spent the past season at IMG Academy (FL). He has also been an assistant at Central Wyoming, Midland, and Bellevue. An official announcement is expected shortly.
Luke Mattson has been hired as a graduate assistant at D2 Southeastern Oklahoma State. Mattson spent last season as an assistant coach at Northern Michigan.
Trey Austin has been hired as the head coach at USCAA Penn State Fayette. He had spent the past three seasons as an assistant at Frostburg State University. Word on the street is that he is looking for a couple of assistants.
A New England D3 and a New England JUCO have both opened. Stay tuned…
