Peters elevated to Associate Head Coach at Georgia State

Entering his third season on the Georgia State men’s basketball staff, Danny Peters has been elevated to associate head coach, head coach Jonas Hayes announced.

Danny Peters has earned the right to be elevated to associate head coach,” Hayes said as he enters his third season at Georgia State. “He works extremely hard, and he is detail-oriented, process-oriented and people-oriented. I’m extremely blessed to have him on our staff, and I’m excited to reward him. The next step for him is to become a Division I head coach.”

Before coming to GSU in 2022-23, Peters coached alongside Hayes at Xavier in 2021-22, helping the Musketeers to a 23-13 campaign. The season was highlighted by the 2022 NIT Championship and a showcase performance by the NIT Most Valuable Player and future NBA Draft Pick Colby Jones.

Before his season at Xavier, Peters spent a total of seven seasons on two separate stints at Arizona under head coach Sean Miller and also worked four seasons at Ball State.

As a college basketball player and coach, Peters has been part of four conference championships, two conference tournament championships, and 11 postseason appearances, including six NCAA Tournament berths. In that time, he has also helped coach and develop 21 NBA players, 13 NBA draft picks, and 14 all-conference selections.
