Pacific mourns sudden loss of Assistant Basketball Coach Myke Scholl

University of the Pacific is saddened to announce the passing of Myke Scholl, who was entering his first season as an assistant coach with the men’s basketball program.

Scholl was hired in April after spending the last 10 seasons at Long Beach State, including the last six as an associate head coach. He helped the program advance to the NCAA Tournament this past season and earn a Big West regular season title in 2021-22.

In an interview conducted in June, Scholl said he and the Pacific men’s basketball staff were “here to win ball games, and we’re all very excited for the upcoming season.”

Scholl, who spent the majority of his career in California, spent the prior six seasons at LMU as an associate head coach. Scholl played two years at Sacramento State from 1987-89. He finished his undergraduate career at Ohio Wesleyan and went on to earn his law degree from the University of Maryland.
