JUCO NEWS: Fort Hays Tech Northwest names Shaw as Men’s Basketball Head Coach

Fort Hays Tech Northwest has announced the hiring of Bradley Shaw as the Tigers’ next head men’s basketball coach. This comes after the departure of three-year head coach Jay Bradley, who led the Mavericks to their best conference and overall record since joining the KJCCC in his final season.

Before joining FHNW, Shaw served as the men’s assistant coach at North Dakota State College of Science. During his four years at NDSCS, the Wildcats went 106-15, winning three straight MonDak Conference Championships and back-to-back Region 13 titles.

“We are excited for the future of the program as Bradley takes over as the New Fort Hays Tech Tigers Men’s Basketball coach,” commented Athletic Director Rory Kling. “He brings experience from a successful program for the past couple of years and has multiple connections in the midwestern states. He has already begun bringing in new athletes as well as connecting with returners as we begin the new school year.”

Prior to NDSCS, Shaw spent one season at Dickinson State under Josh Vaughan. Between the 2016-17 and 2018-19 seasons, Shaw spent those three seasons at Johnson & Wales University under David Graham. During the 2015-16 season, Shaw was an assistant at Miami University Hamilton in Ohio.

Shaw earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, working as a men’s basketball student manager for the Cornhuskers under both Tim Miles and Doc Sadler from 2010-2015. That stretch includes an NCAA tournament appearance in 2014.

Shaw is originally from Fargo, North Dakota, and graduated from Fargo South High in 2010.
