REPORT: Will Wade to NC State

According to multiple reports, including ones from O&G Triangle Media’s Joe Giglio and CBS Sports’ Matt Norlander, NC State will hire McNeese State’s Will Wade as its new head basketball coach. Wade will replace Kevin Keatts, who was let go a few weeks ago after a disappointing ACC season despite a Final Four run the year prior.

Wade, who previously coached at Chattanooga, VCU, LSU, and most recently McNeese, boasts a 243-104 career record and has led three programs to the NCAA Tournament. He guided McNeese to a dominant 36-2 conference record over two seasons, securing back-to-back tournament appearances. Emerging as the top candidate alongside VCU’s Ryan Odom, Wade quickly became NC State’s choice once Odom focused on Virginia. Now in Raleigh, he faces the challenge of rebuilding a depleted Wolfpack roster ahead of the transfer portal’s opening.
