Boucher resigns as Head Basketball Coach at D2 Westmont College

After five seasons as head coach of the Westmont College Men’s Basketball program, Landon Boucher has announced his decision to step down, prioritizing his growing family over coaching. A former Westmont player himself, Boucher met his wife, former Westmont soccer standout Aolani Rueff, at the college, and they have a five-year-old son, with another child on the way. Citing his desire to be more present as a father and husband, Boucher and his family plan to move back to Oregon to be closer to relatives and raise their children in a supportive environment.

Boucher’s tenure as head coach saw significant accomplishments, including leading the Warriors to their first PacWest Tournament berth this season following Westmont’s transition from NAIA to NCAA Division II. A former assistant under longtime head coach John Moore, Boucher took over the program in 2020 and helped navigate challenges such as COVID, the shift to Division II, and the evolving landscape of college basketball. Reflecting on his time at Westmont, Boucher expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead the program, highlighting both the team’s competitive success and the strong sense of community fostered during his tenure.

Westmont’s Director of Athletics, Robert Ruiz, praised Boucher’s leadership and impact, acknowledging his role in guiding the program through a challenging period while still achieving on-court success. Under Boucher’s leadership, the Warriors finished fourth in the PacWest standings this season and made their first postseason appearance at the Division II level. As the search for a new head coach begins, Boucher remains a strong supporter of the program, expressing his excitement for Westmont’s future and his continued dedication as a lifelong fan.
