Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to serve as the Head Coach of our Junior Varsity Men’s Basketball team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the JV program, including scheduling, practice planning, student-athlete development, and academic monitoring. This role is integral to maintaining continuity between the varsity and JV programs and fostering a positive student-athlete experience.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Game & Practice Management
    • Plan, organize, and coach up to 20 JV games during the season.
    • Conduct practices 4–5 days per week, emphasizing skill development, team strategy, and personal growth.
    • Coordinate with the varsity coaching staff to align systems, terminology, and culture.
  • Student-Athlete Academic Oversight
    • Maintain consistent weekly contact with 4–5 assigned student-athletes through phone and text communication.
    • Monitor academic progress, including:
      • Current grades and GPA
      • Assignment completion
      • Attendance and participation in virtual classes or required meetings
    • Ensure student-athletes attend and remain accountable for study tables and tutoring, as applicable.
  • Player Development & Engagement
    • Organize and oversee individual and small group workouts.
    • Encourage and support student-athletes’ holistic development both on and off the court.
    • Keep players engaged and connected to the broader basketball program and school community.

Compensation:

  • 50% tuition discount toward a master’s degree
  • $8,000 seasonal stipend
  • Percentage of basketball camp revenue

Qualifications:

  • Previous coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level preferred.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to academic success and character development.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends during the season.
