Chosen 1 Academy is seeking a dynamic, passionate, and experienced Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach for our Post-Graduate program. What You’ll Do:
As Assistant Coach, you will play a critical role in supporting all facets of our nationally competitive post-graduate basketball program. This position demands a dynamic, committed leader who thrives in both athletic development and personal mentorship.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
To succeed in this role, the individual must be able to effectively perform the following responsibilities and demonstrate the necessary knowledge, skills, and experience:
- Assist in planning and executing daily practices, workouts, and game strategies.
- Support recruitment and development of top-tier talent, both athletically and academically.
- Serve as a mentor and positive role model, fostering high character, discipline, and leadership among student-athletes.
- Ensure compliance with program standards, organizational policies, and athletic regulations.
- Coordinate travel, logistics, and administrative support for the team as needed.
- Collaborate with the Head Coach and support staff to promote team unity and player development on and off the court.
- Monitor academic progress and provide encouragement toward student-athletes’ educational and career goals.
From developing elite talent on the court to shaping high-character individuals off it, you will be instrumental in building champions—both in sports and in life.
Key Responsibilities:
- On-site coaching in games and practices, including organization and implementation of daily practices
- Prepare film breakdown and analysis, and present analysis to team members
- Plan and prepare for games
- Provide support and encouragement to student athletes, including academic counseling and advising
- Monitor academic progress of athletes
- Recruit and retain talented athletes successfully
- Research academic and athletic credentials
- Build relationships with prospective student athletes and their families through email, phone calls, and one-on-one meetings
- Organize and implement recruit visits
- Understand NCAA rules, compliance, and laws
- Ensure safety and well-being of student athletes
- Serve as an effective role model for student-athletes
- Assist with day-to-day operations of the program
- Provide effective communication to the head coach
- Collaborate effectively with other Department of Athletics’ team members
- Assist with the coordination of team travel
- Build and maintain strong relationships with college coaches nationwide
- Foster a team culture rooted in leadership, discipline, and accountability
- Mentor athletes academically, socially, and emotionally
- Assist with fundraising initiatives and community engagement
- Manage program budget and administrative responsibilities
- Demonstrate professionalism and strong communication at all times

- Proven coaching experience at the post-grad or collegiate level
- Deep understanding of the game of basketball and player development
- Passion for helping athletes grow on and off the court
- Strong leadership, mentorship, and communication skills
- Ability to build and grow a nationally ranked program
- Familiarity with recruitment, scouting, and program operations
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel
- Committed to fostering diversity, inclusion, and team culture
Seasonal Commitment:
This is a seasonal role running August through May each year (subject to adjustment).
