Norfolk State men’s basketball head coach Robert Jones continues to strengthen one of the top coaching groups in mid-major basketball, adding Corey Coffer as an assistant coach.
Coffer comes to Norfolk State from Bryant & Stratton Community College, helping lead the Bobcats to a 20-10 overall record with a 12-6 mark in conference play. Coffer developed three players to all-conference recognitions during the 2024-25 season, including first-team all-region honoree Kimoni Small.
Prior to entering the collegiate ranks, Coffer spent eight years as the head coach of Princess Anne High School. He led Princess Anne to a 94-74 record over eight years with the program, taking the Cavaliers to the state tournament for the first time since 1999 in 2022-23 – earing Region 5A Coach of the Year accolades in the process.
Coffer coached many players to all-conference accolades at Princess Anne. Will Bland was named the Beach District Defensive Player of the Year in 2023, while Styles Clemmons was named to the All-District First Team.
Coffer also enjoyed local high school coaching stints at Green Run, Wilson, Deep Creek, and Hoke.
Coffer earned his Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education in 2012, where he served as a men’s basketball student manager.
