Barry Wellington has been named as the new Head Men’s Basketball Coach at NAIA Rust College. No official announcement yet from Rust, but Wellington posted the following on social media earlier today:
Wellington was an assistant at Arizona Christian for the 2024–25 season after a year as an assistant at Menlo College. His coaching résumé includes stops at NCAA DII programs Lane College and Christian Brothers University, NAIA powerhouse University of the Cumberlands, and Lamar State College Port Arthur.
As a player, he was an All-American at Mountain State University, and also played at Mineral Area College and SIU Edwardsville. A standout at Treadwell High School in Memphis, he earned Gatorade Player of the Year honors twice. He holds a bachelor’s degree in applied arts and sciences from Lamar University (2017).
