I can confirm that Ernest Collins has stepped down as the head basketball coach at NJCAA D3 Minnesota North Rainy River and will become the new head coach at NJCAA D2 Kirtland Community College (MI).
Collins took over at Rainy River prior to last season and led the Voyageurs to a 17-10 (10-2) record. Prior to his time in Minnesota, the Michigan native worked at University of Miami, University of Michigan-Flint, and Frank Phillips College.
Collins will replace Josh Holman, who spent one season as the men’s coach at KCC following a stint as the women’s basketball head coach at the school.
An official announcement is expected shortly.
