Under the guidance of the Head Coach of the Boys National Team and the Director of Athletics,  contribute to the growth and development of a high-level basketball program at a dynamic,  forward-thinking prep school that competes at a high level while also embodying Perkiomen’s  spirit of sportsmanship, integrity, dignity, respect in competition, and excellence in the  classroom.  

The successful candidate will serve as the head coach of the regionally competitive Prep team as  well as the assistant coach of the National team.  

Perkiomen School basketball has a tradition of excellence and winning records. Annually, many  of the graduates go on to play basketball at the NCAA level, with recent alumni competing at  the highest levels of Division I, II, and III, as well as an alum drafted in the first round of the  2024 NBA Draft. The Prep team plays an independent schedule against several of the top teams  in the Mid-Atlantic, while the National team competes in the competitive EPL, PAISAA, and  the National Prep Championships.  

Basketball Job Responsibilities: 

  • Lead all aspects of the Prep basketball team, including daily practice planning, skill  development, and in-game coaching  
  • Serve as Assistant Coach for the Boys National Team, contributing to practice design,  player development, and game preparation.  
  • Create and execute structured, purposeful, and competitive practice sessions that  promote team and individual growth.  
  • Prepare and present film breakdowns and opponent scouting reports to enhance game  readiness.  
  • Support and mentor student-athletes through academic advising, personal development,  and leadership growth.  
  • Monitor and track academic performance and communicate effectively with faculty and  advisors to ensure student success.  
  • Recruit and retain high-character, high-ability student-athletes who embody Perkiomen’s  values both academically and athletically.  
  • Research and evaluate prospective student-athletes’ academic and athletic credentials.  Build and maintain strong relationships with recruits, families, and external partners  through consistent communication and campus visits.  
  • Prioritize player safety, well-being, and sportsmanship at all times. 
  • Serve as a positive role model and mentor for high school–aged students, promoting  integrity, accountability, and teamwork.  
  • Assist with day-to-day basketball program operations, including equipment management,  scheduling, and travel coordination.  

Other Duties Associated:  

  • Complete a secondary duty within the athletic department commensurate with  experience, such as equipment and inventory oversight, contest management for home  games 
  • Serve as an advisor to a select group of students  
  • Work with Student Life Office to contribute to residential duty and weekend duty teams 

Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree  
  • Coaching experience at the high school, college level, or professional level  Experience playing the sport at the high school, college, or professional level  Experience teaching at the high school or college level  
  • Valid Driver’s license  
  • National or regional coaching certification preferred  
  • CPR and First Aid Certified (Perkiomen offers certification course)
