DAILY DIRT II – 3/18/26

Story: Adam Nelson (@HD_DirtKing)

Busy day…here’s a second edition of today’s Daily Dirt with three quick additions.

I can confirm that Grambling associate head coach Chris Dorsey has resigned. Dorsey was hired last June following a successful 8-year run as the head coach at D3 Centenary College (LA).

According to a post from Mike Fenner, following a season ending loss to Gannon last night, D2 IUP head coach Joe Lombardi was “understandably emotional alluding to the possibility that this *could be* his last game”. Lombardi has spent the past 20 seasons at IUP going 455-145 (.758). More on this one as it develops.

Speaking of D2’s with coaches who have retired…I have heard that Patrick Grubbs will be the choice to replace Bob Rukavina who recently retired as the Mountain Cats head coach. Grubbs served as Coach Ruk’s assistant for the past 12-seasons and is the all-time leading rebounder at the school. An official announcement here could be made shortly.

Here’s the FIRST EDITION of today’s DAILY DIRT from earlier this morning:

I have heard that Colby College head coach Sean Rutigliano is in the mix for a spot on Casey Alexander’s new staff at Kansas State. Rutigliano worked for Alexander at Belmont for six seasons prior to taking over at Colby last summer. He has also been an assistant at Lipscomb and Army.

The Parker-led search at Georgia State is in full swing, with initial interviews about to get underway. It sounds like guys with head coaching experience will be given priority.

New Charlotte AD Kevin White has the search to replace Aaron Fearne moving at warp speed. Wes Miller is the hot name here right now. The former Cincinnati head coach played at North Carolina (2004-07), and spent ten seasons as the head coach at UNC Greensboro (2011-21) where he went 185-135. More on this one shorty.

I can confirm that there are two spots open on Chris Kraus’ staff at Stonehill (don’t worry about who left, just trust me that there are two spots available). Both positions are full-time with benefits, and one will have an operations component to it. Sounds like these are wide open. (Pro tip: get your stuff to Coach Kraus ASAP if interested).

It sounds like William Hines is no longer the head men’s basketball coach at NJCAA D2 Reid State. This past season the Lions went 16-16 (7-9).
