REPORT: McNamara to Syracuse finally getting done

No surprise here, just took time for the dust to settle after Siena’s tournament loss to Duke…according to a report from ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Syracuse is expected to hire Siena coach Gerry McNamara has its next head coach.

McNamara, a former Orange standout just wrapped up his second season at Siena, leading the Saints to a 23-12 (13-7 MAAC) record and their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2010.

As a 16-seed, Siena pushed No. 1 Duke to the brink—leading most of the game before falling 71-65.

McNamara is now 37-30 at Siena after inheriting a program that won just four games the year before he arrived.

Prior to his time at Siena, spent fifteen seasons on the staff at Syracuse.

An official announcement is expected shortly.
