No major surprise here…I touched on it briefly in last night’s Daily Dirt and it now appears to be a done deal. Tennessee associate head coach and NC State alum Justin Gainey will be hired as the Wolfpack’s new head basketball coach.

Gainey played at NC State from 1996-2000, serving as a captain his senior year. He spent three seasons (2006-09) in an administrative role with the Wolf Pack following a brief professional career. Gainey then went on to assistant spots at Elon, App St, Santa Clara, Arizona, Marquette, and most recently Tennessee.

An official announcement is expected sometime today.
