The Lakeland University Athletics Department is accepting applications for a Graduate Assistant position for the men’s basketball program. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

A successful candidate will be a positive role model to our student-athletes on and off the court, exhibit strong leadership skills, and strive to develop those leadership capabilities within our student-athletes. Responsibilities also include:

Monitoring and assisting student-athletes with academic success
Effectively recruiting quality student-athletes
Assisting the head coach with any/all aspects of the program

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree and acceptance into the Lakeland University graduate school program are required.
Experience playing and/or coaching basketball is required.
Must have an acceptable driving record.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations governing recruitment, eligibility and related functions is required
Demonstrate ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality;
Ability to effectively manage time and priorities;
Ability to prioritize office workflow and make effective administrative decisions to increase efficiency, accuracy, and productivity;
Demonstrated ability to tactfully and effectively communicate (written and verbal) with a variety of individuals;
Strong critical thinking skills;
Demonstrates organizational ability, and attention to detail and accuracy;
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment;
Ability to work evenings or weekends as needed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

Moderate to strenuous physical activity is part of the position. Requires the ability to run at a reasonable pace.
The work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
