DAILY DIRT – 4/11/26

Story: Adam Nelson (@HD_DirtKing)

A few quick things I’ve heard while getting ready to head to the NJCAA Convention in Kansas City…

I can confirm that Northern Kentucky assistant Ryan Peterson will join John Jakus’ staff at Florida Atlantic. Peterson had spent the past two years at NKU and had been a graduate assistant at Baylor when Jakus was an assistant there. Official announcement on this one is coming soon.

I have heard that two guys who are most likely joining Joey Cantens new staff at Florida International are Adrian Davila and Jabril Durham. Davila had been with Cantens at Daytona State for the past three seasons. Durham was a graduate assistant at Florida State last year, and he played collegiately at Arkansas.

It sounds like Jakob Lowrance will join new Campbell head coach Jimmie Williams’ staff in an undetermined role. Lowrance was with Williams at D2 Anderson last season. It also sounds like Justin Wakefield, who was the Director of Player Development at North Alabama a few years ago is also in the mix to join Williams’ staff.

No secret here, but former Georgia Tech head coach Damon Stoudamire is expected to join Will Wade’s staff at LSU. Stoudamire, a 13-yr NBA veteran, had spent the past three seasons at GT before being released this spring. He will join former head coaches Rick Stansbury and Johnny Jones on Wade’s staff.

It sounds like Luke Murray has identified his first two assistants at Boston College. CBS’s Matt Norlander has reported that Murray will add Tim O’Toole and Kyle Griffin. O’Toole had been the associate head coach at Pitt for the past nine seasons, and was reportedly let go last month in order for Jeff Capel to keep his job. Griffin had been at Florida Gulf Coast for the last four seasons, serving the last three as the associate head coach.

John Canzano is reporting that Mike Mennenga is on the move and will join Alan Huss’ staff at Creighton. Mennenga had been at Oregon since 2014 and has also worked at Iowa State, Providence, Canisius, and Maine.

The search at D3 Alvernia is just about done. Last week, I mentioned that DeSales assistant Stephen Griffin, and former assistant Dan Hartzman had interviewed here. It sounds like Hampden-Sydney associate head coach Bryson Gibson can be added to the list, as well as two current head coaches in the United East Conference. I have heard that the last interview will take place this coming week, with a decision to follow shortly after that.

In case you missed it from earlier today…D3 Mount Aloysius (PA) has hired Carnegie Mellon assistant Pat Martinelli as their new head basketball coach. More here -> D3 DIRT.
