REPORT: English will not join UNC Basketball Staff after accepting position

After accepting a position on Michael Malone’s staff last week, former Providence head coach Kim English has decided not to move forward with the opportunity at North Carolina, according to multiple reports. ESPN’s Pete Thamel first reported the development on Sunday, with Inside Carolina also confirming the news.

According to reports, English arrived in Chapel Hill and began working on Wednesday. He was the second addition to Michael Malone’s staff, joining Chuck Martin, who from Arkansas last week.

English had spent the past three seasons as the Friars head coach (48–52) before being released earlier this off-season. He also spent two seasons as the head coach at George Mason before taking over at PC.

No reason has been given for his apparent change of mind.
