Longwood University invites applications for the position of Director of Operations, Men’s Basketball (M0055). The Director of Operations will work with the men’s basketball office and program by working with the coaching and other athletic/administrative staff to coordinate a variety of support activities to the men’s basketball program. These activities will include but are not limited to: planning/coordinating public relations activities, scheduling facilities for practices, competitions, special programs, handling team travel arrangements/logistics, recruiting travel & planning, supporting team camps and overall assistance of day-to-day operations within the office.

This position is located in Farmville, Virginia, and is required to work in person on Longwood University’s campus.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

• Coordinate all aspects of team travel
• Handle daily paperwork and prepare practice plans
• Manage film exchange and video editing programs
• Size and order/re-order equipment
• Assist with all aspects of summer camps
• Coordination of special events/team activities
• Assist with leading student managers
• Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Experience working with video editing
• Experience working in, or around, a college athletics program
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
• Knowledge and understanding of NCAA, conference, and university rules and regulations
• Experience working or playing with a men’s collegiate basketball program preferred
• Experience running summer camps and clinics preferred

Additional Information:

This is a part-time, miscellaneous, exempt, position limited to an average of 29 hours per week and 1500 hours maximum per work year. Commonwealth of Virginia benefits do not accompany this position.
