Baylor is bringing back one of its own—but this time with a much bigger voice in the room. Former Bear Jake Lindsey is returning to Waco as both general manager and assistant coach under Scott Drew after building his résumé over the past four years on Bryce Drew’s staff at Grand Canyon University. The move adds a rising young coach with deep program ties to a staff that continues to evolve with the modern college basketball landscape.
Lindsey’s roots at Baylor Bears men’s basketball run deep. As a player from 2015–2018, he was part of three NCAA Tournament teams and helped elevate the program to its first-ever No. 1 national ranking. After a medical retirement cut his playing career short, he stayed embedded in the program as a graduate assistant—an early sign of a coaching path that has since accelerated. His time with the Utah Jazz in scouting and player evaluation, followed by tangible postseason success at Grand Canyon—including a 2024 NCAA Tournament upset—has only strengthened his profile.
