Story: Adam Nelson (@HD_DirtKing)
I have heard that NAIA Langston University intends to hire Sam Kohnke as their new head men’s basketball coach. He would replace Chris Wright who became the head coach at D1 Alabama State earlier this month.
Kohnke spent last season as head coach at NAIA Oklahoma City University, leading the Stars to a 21–11 overall record, including a 15–7 mark in conference play. His team captured the SAC Tournament title with a 74–67 overtime win over Langston and earned a berth in the NAIA National Tournament.
Prior to his time at OCU, Kohnke went 91-38 in four seasons as the head coach at NAIA Central Baptist.
Kohnke would take over a Langston program that went that went 29-8 this past season under Wright and advanced to the NAIA National Championship game. This was Langston’s second National Championship appearance is the past four seasons.
More on this move once it becomes official.
