Description:

The Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach is responsible for assisting with all details of operating an NCAA Division II intercollegiate Men’s Basketball program.  The position is 12-month and reports to the Head Men’s Basketball Coach.        

Essential Functions  

  • Promote and develop spiritual formation and leadership, academic excellence, athletic competitiveness, and community engagement in student-athletes      
  • Assist in organizing and facilitating practice and training sessions, game preparation (including video and statistical analysis), travel, and competition  
  • Assist in developing and operating a successful recruiting system to accomplish competitive success and roster goals   
  • Assist in organizing and operating youth camps and other fundraising initiatives  
  • Participate as an active member of the Athletic Department and University as a whole         
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable institutional, conference, and NCAA regulations and promote an atmosphere of compliance  
  • Perform other related duties as assigned  

 

Qualifications:  

 Required:  

  • Bachelor’s degree  
  • Men’s Basketball coaching experience       
  • Highly motivated and committed to the University’s mission, with strong organizational skills, the ability to work independently, remain calm under pressure, meet deadlines, solve problems, and effectively manage tasks from initiation to completion in an orderly and thorough manner while engaging with diverse personalities and situations. 
  • The University requires that all staff members be Christians (preferably in the Wesleyan tradition) and must be comfortable with and in agreement with the mission and lifestyle values of NNU and be willing to help advance the spiritual goals of the University.  

 Preferred:  

  • Master’s degree        
  • Collegiate-level Men’s Basketball coaching experience  
  • Experience recruiting student-athletes  
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and processes        

 

Compensation:  

This is a stipend-based position supplemented by additional income earned through required work in camps. Camp-related earnings are based on the overall revenue generated by the camps, not individual performance. The financial compensation will range from $12,000 – $18,000. The position also includes access to low-cost housing and a 9-month meal plan.
