Description:

The Assistant Coach provides management of the men’s basketball program. This role is responsible for recruiting prospective student-athletes, on-court coaching, serving as community relations liaison for the men’s basketball program to the public, and monitoring academic progress of student-athletes.

Core Responsibilities

  1. Knowledge of and adherence to NCAA and conference rules.
  2. Recruits quality student athletes.
  3. Monitors satisfactory academic progress of student athlete and helps arrange for necessary academic counseling through Athletics Academic Coordinator.
  4. Assists Head Coach with on the floor coaching.
  5. Assists Head Coach with recruitment of student athletes.
  6. Assists Head Coach with basketball training of student athletes.
  7. Assists Head Coach with scheduling of opponents.
  8. Works with the Athletics Administration in matters of public relations and promotions.
  9. Active in fundraising for the Athletics Department.
  10. Supports student athlete development programs and assure student-athlete welfare of team by being respectful.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
  • Three (3) years of related work experience.
  • This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.

  • Knowledge in the sport of men’s basketball
  • NCAA, State of Texas, UTSA, AAC Rules and Regulations
  • Organization, Written and Verbal Communication Skills
  • Independent Judgement, Discretion, and Flexibility
