I can confirm that NJCAA D1 Polk State (FL) will hire former NBA player Marreese Speights as their new head men’s basketball coach.
Speights, who was the 16th pick in the 2008 draft, spent ten seasons in the NBA with six different teams. He won a title with the Golden State Warriors in 2015 and was also a member of Florida’s 2007 NCAA National Championship team.
Following his playing career, Speights served as an assistant coach at Georgia Southern before becoming the head coach at Northside Christian School (FL) last season.
An official announcement is expected shortly.
