Jorge Ruiz has departed the staff at Weber State and has been named as an assistant at High Point. No official statement yet from HPU, but the Standard-Examiner has reported the move.

Ruiz spent the past eight seasons at Weber State, beginning as the program’s Video Coordinator before being promoted to Director of Basketball Operations. He was elevated to assistant coach in 2022, and added Assistant GM duties to his role last year.

“Just super grateful to the people, whether that’s the staff, administration, the players, the fanbase. There are some special places in college basketball and Ogden is one of them. It’s a community,” Ruiz told the Standard-Examiner. “I came in as a young kid trying to find my way in college basketball and I had the opportunities to learn from some special people along the way.”

An official announcement on the hiring is expected shortly from High Point.
