The Western Texas College Men’s Basketball Program is seeking a highly motivated and energetic individual to serve as a Volunteer Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach. This position is ideal for an aspiring coach looking to gain experience at the NJCAA Division I level while working within one of the premier junior college conferences in the country.

The successful candidate will assist in all aspects of the basketball program and contribute to a competitive, disciplined, and family-oriented culture.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily practice preparation and on-court instruction
• Support player development workouts
• Assist with scouting reports, film breakdown, and game preparation
• Help coordinate team travel and logistics
• Assist with recruiting and player evaluations
• Monitor academic progress and support student-athlete success
• Help manage team equipment and practice operations
• Represent the program and college in a professional manner at all times

Qualifications

• Previous basketball playing and/or coaching experience preferred
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
• High energy and positive attitude
• Ability to build relationships with student-athletes
• Knowledge of basketball fundamentals, skill development, and team concepts
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and travel as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Collegiate playing or coaching experience
• Experience with video editing platforms such as Synergy
• Strength and conditioning/Player Development background is a plus
