Position Overview  

Lead by Example Foundation is seeking a motivated and experienced Head Basketball Trainer / Program  Growth Lead to oversee basketball training operations, support gym management, and help expand the Lead  by Example brand in the Opa-locka community. This role is designed for a person who is passionate about  player development, community engagement, and organizational growth. The ideal candidate will train  athletes individually and in groups, recruit new players into the program, and help build a strong player  pipeline that can feed future Lead by Example AAU teams. 

Key Responsibilities  

  • Lead daily basketball training operations and help oversee the gym space. 
  • Conduct individual and group training sessions for elementary, middle school, and high school athletes. • Teach basketball fundamentals, skill development, game concepts, and basketball IQ. • Recruit players into the gym through outreach, networking, and community relationships. • Help develop and maintain a player pipeline for the Lead by Example Foundation and AAU program. • Serve as a brand ambassador for Lead by Example Foundation in the community. • Support community outreach efforts to grow awareness, trust, and participation in the program. • Track attendance, player progress, and retention. 
  • Maintain a professional, organized, and developmental training environment. 
  • Work closely with Lead by Example leadership on programming and growth strategy. • Represent the organization professionally at all times. 
  • Optional: contribute to the Lead by Example AAU team in a coaching role, if desired and aligned with  organizational needs. 

Qualifications  

  • Strong basketball background as a trainer, coach, or player development professional. • Ability to lead high-quality individual and group workouts. 
  • Strong communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills. 
  • Self-motivated and comfortable helping grow a basketball organization. 
  • Ability to recruit and connect with players, parents, and the local basketball community. • Organized, dependable, and able to manage gym operations professionally. 
  • Must be able to pass a background check. 
  • Must have a valid drivers license and reliable transportation. 
  • Must live within 30 minutes of Opa-locka, Florida. 

Preferred Qualifications  

  • Experience in AAU, youth basketball, high school, college, or professional settings. • Knowledge of player development systems and long-term athlete growth. 
  • Experience with camps, clinics, open runs, or community-based basketball programming. • Interest in potentially coaching with the AAU team in the future. 
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred, but not required.

Schedule  

  • Monday through Friday: 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM. 
  • Saturday: 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. 
  • This is a full-time position based on fixed gym operating hours. 
  • Holiday work may be required depending on programming and organizational needs. 

Compensation and Incentives  

  • Base salary: $50,000 annually. 
  • Bonus opportunity: $5,000 for every 20 new players who enroll and complete four training sessions. • Incentives are based on both recruitment and retention 

Reporting Structure  

This position reports directly to Lead by Example leadership and will be expected to provide regular updates  on player development, recruitment efforts, gym operations, and program growth.
