Huntingdon Head Men’s Basketball Coach Carson Long has announced the addition of Zach Hinton to serve as the Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach.
Hinton comes to Huntingdon after serving alongside Coach Long as an Assistant Coach at Hampden-Sydney in the 2025-2026 season. While with the Tigers, Zach’s primary responsibilities were planning official visits for recruits, managing personnel and special teams for scouting reports, organizing travel logistics, and recruiting prospective 2027 athletes.
Zach’s coaching career began at William Peace University, where he served as an assitant coach from June of 2021-May of 2022. While there, he broke down film in individual player sessions, assisted in recruiting efforts, and gave campus tours to both prospects and their families.
In May of 2022 Hinton accepted an assistant coaching position at Bridgewater College, where he led the program’s social media efforts by creating graphics and highlight videos for recruits while also creating recruiting itineraries for Summer visits, breaking down film to enhance the team’s offensive concepts, and oversaw visits for recruits on campus.
Prior to his stint at Hampden-Sydney, Zach returned to William Peace in August of 2022 and served as an assistant coach through June of 2025. The head of recruting for the Pacers, Hinton also created scouting reports that were presented in film sessions and led individual workouts to further develop the team’s skillsets. While in Raleigh, Hinton recruited the 2024 USA South Rookie of the Year in Ryan Lominack while helping guide the Pacers to their first appearance in the conference championship.
“I’m honored to join the men’s basketball coaching staff at Huntingdon College,” shared Hinton. ” I look forward to begin developing our student-athletes both on and off the court while contributing to the program’s standard of excellence. I’m incredibly grateful for this opportunity and excited to begin building relationships with our players, staff, and the entire Huntingdon community.”
Hinton received his Bachelor’s degree in 2020 from Randolph College before receiving his Master’s in Coaching and Sports Leadership in 2021.
