Columbia International University (CIU), a Christ-centered institution committed to educating people from a biblical worldview to impact the nations with the message of Christ, is seeking a highly motivated and ministry-minded Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach.
The Assistant Coach will play a vital role in all aspects of the men’s basketball program, assisting the head coach in developing student-athletes academically, athletically, spiritually, and personally while helping build a championship-caliber program that reflects the mission and values of Columbia International University.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assist with planning and conducting daily practices, skill development sessions, and game preparation.
- Recruit and evaluate prospective student-athletes who align with the academic, athletic, and spiritual mission of CIU.
- Build meaningful relationships with current student-athletes while mentoring and discipling them in their personal and spiritual growth.
- Scout opponents and assist with game planning, film breakdown, and statistical analysis.
- Assist with player development, including individual workouts and offseason training.
- Coordinate recruiting communications and maintain recruiting databases.
- Assist with travel planning, equipment management, and other program logistics.
- Support academic accountability and student-athlete success.
- Represent the university and athletic department with professionalism, integrity, and Christian character.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head Men’s Basketball Coach or Director of Athletics.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preffered
- Collegiate coaching or playing experience preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of basketball fundamentals, player development, recruiting, and scouting.
- Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
- Proficiency with basketball video and analytics software is preferred.
- Commitment to mentoring student-athletes within a Christ-centered environment.
