University of West Georgia men’s basketball head coach Dave Moore announced on Thursday the addition of Chase Crawford as an assistant coach and Andell Cumberbatch as a graduate assistant, completing the Wolves’ coaching staff for the 2026-27 season.
A native of Alpharetta, Georgia, Crawford joins the Pack after most recently serving as assistant coach at former ASUN-foe Stetson University during the 2025-26 season. Prior to coaching the Hatters, the Georgia native gained valuable experience serving as an assistant coach at the Pace Academy (Atlanta, Georgia) for two seasons under legendary coach Sharman White, a 10-time state champion and six-time gold medal winner. Crawford’s first coaching role out of college was with King’s Ridge Christian School (Alpharetta, Georgia), where he helped lead the program to a 2023 Georgia High School State Championship as an assistant.
Crawford’s coaching journey began at the University of Georgia, where he spent five years as a student manager under head coaches Tom Crean, Mark Fox and Mike White, working with several future NBA players, including 2020 No. 1 Draft Pick Anthony Edwards. He was also selected to the inaugural NBA Future Analytics Stars Program in 2021. Crawford earned his bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics from the University of Georgia in 2022, with minors in statistics and Spanish and a New Media Certificate in Digital Content Creation.
“Chase Crawford is a young, talented guy we are excited to add to the staff,” stated Moore. “He is a Georgia native who will contribute in a lot of areas. Analytics, player development, recruiting, and social media are a few areas he will contribute right away. Chase will be a tremendous resource for our players, and we are thrilled to have him at UWG!”
Cumberbatch’s relationship with Moore dates back to his playing days at St. Bonaventure, where Moore served as an assistant coach prior to taking over the West Georgia program. After playing in 62 games over a two-year period with the Bonnies, Cumberbatch’s talents took the East Orange, New Jersey native overseas following his senior season (2014-15). Since then, Cumberbatch competed for 10 different professional basketball teams over a nine-year period, in countries like Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic, France, Israel and Spain. Cumberbatch brings a wealth of knowledge to the graduate assistant position, developing his understanding of the game through a decades-long professional career that saw him compete in hundreds of professional games.
Last December, Cumberbatch was inducted into the East Orange High School Hall of Fame, adding to his impressive list of player accomplishments that also included junior college All-American honors from his time at Barton Community College in Kansas.
“We are really excited to add Andell to our staff as a graduate assistant. He was a very good player for two seasons at St. Bonaventure. A really talented wing that was all about winning! He carried that mindset through a nine-year professional career,” said Moore. “We are excited to help him start his coaching journey here at UWG! He will be an unbelievable resource for our players on and off the court.”
