The University of Chicago Department of Athletics and Recreation has named Jarod Crumpley as Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach, effective August 24.
Crumpley joins the Maroons after spending the last three seasons as the Director of Men’s Basketball Operations at Loyola Chicago. He helped lead the Ramblers to a 57-46 overall record and a 31-23 record in the Atlantic 10 over the past three seasons, and the Ramblers won the Atlantic 10 Regular Season Championship in 2023-24.
In addition to his three-year stint as the DOBO at Loyola, Crumpley served as a student manager for four years as an undergraduate where he was a member of three Missouri Valley Conference Championship teams under Head Coach Porter Moser, ncluding a 2018 Final Four berth and a 2021 Sweet Sixteen appearance.

Prior to joining Loyola Chicago, Crumpley spent two seasons as a graduate manager for the Northwestern men’s basketball program from 2021 to 2023. He assisted the coaching staff with day-to-day operations, including recruiting, film review and player development, among other duties.
“Jarod Crumpley is a great addition to our staff,” said Head Men’s Basketball Coach Mike McGrath. “He’s smart and hard-working. His experience at Loyola and Northwestern has given him some unique experiences that will help our team immensely.”
Crumpley earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration in sports management and supply chain management from Loyola Chicago in 2021, and he later earned his master’s degree in sports administration from Northwestern in 2023.
The University of Chicago men’s basketball team will open its 2026-27 season on Sunday, November 8, as the Maroons host Harvard University for their season opener at the Ratner Athletic Center.
