Ellsworth Community College Head Men’s Basketball Coach Bryan Bender has announced the addition of Christopher Reedy to the Panthers’ coaching staff.
Reedy brings extensive collegiate coaching experience and a proven record of recruiting, player development, and program success. Recognized by the National Association of Basketball Coaches as one of the top HBCU assistant coaches, he brings a versatile background that will support all aspects of Ellsworth Basketball.
“I’ve known Chris for more than 10 years and have always respected him as a coach and trusted him as a person, even from afar,” said Bender. “He is a hard, dedicated worker who cares about his players and takes pride in every part of the job. Timing is everything in this profession, and we’re excited that the opportunity lined up for him to join our staff.”
As Associate Head Coach at Edward Waters University, Reedy helped guide the Tigers to the most NCAA Division II wins in school history, their first victory over a nationally ranked opponent, and the program’s first regional ranking. The team also recorded its winningest season in more than a decade.
His recruiting network spans junior colleges, prep programs, the transfer portal, and high schools throughout the South. His recruiting efforts at Edward Waters helped bring in four All-Conference selections, a Freshman of the Year, and a Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.
Previously, at Chattahoochee Valley Community College, Reedy’s recruiting efforts produced 10 All-Conference honorees while the program averaged 21 wins per season. At Columbus State, he helped develop 10 players who went on to professional careers domestically and internationally.
“Adding another experienced coach expands our capacity to support our players and strengthen our program,” Bender added. “Chris brings a versatile skill set in scouting, defense, video, recruiting, and organization. He can contribute to every aspect of our program, and we’re fortunate to have him.”
Reedy’s approach to player development combines film study, analytics, and individualized development plans. His experience with modern offensive concepts and versatile, disciplined defense will provide another valuable perspective on the Panthers’ staff.
“I’m beyond thankful for the opportunity to join a program with an established winning culture,” said Reedy. “I’m excited to work under Coach Bender, learn from his experience as a successful head coach, and contribute to the continued success of Ellsworth Basketball. This opportunity allows me to broaden my horizons, build relationships in the Midwest, and grow as a coach. I can’t wait to get to work.”
