UTEP’s Floyd to serve one game suspension

UTEP Coach Tim Floyd will be serving a one-game suspension for violating the Conference USA sportsmanship policy on Saturday and will be replaced on the bench by assistant Phil Johnson.

Johnson was the head coach at San Jose State for four seasons (1998-99, 2002-05). Earlier in his career, he was the head coach at Northern Oklahoma Junior College and Seminole Junior College.

UTEP will have an interim head coach on the bench for the first time since March 4, 2009 versus UAB, when Tony Madlock served as interim head coach while Tony Barbee was attending the funeral of his father. The Miners won that game 70-52.
