Nichols College Hires Assistant

Nichols College has announced the addition of RJ Evans to its men’s basketball coaching staff.

Evans was a four-year member of the College of the Holy Cross men’s basketball program who scored over 1,200 points during his time in Worcester. He graduated in May, 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics. As a senior co-captain, Evans averaged 11.5 ppg, 4.8 rpg, and 2.8 apg. Evans was a member of the 2010-11 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.

Evan earned his Master of Science at the University of Connecticut one year later, where he helped the 2012-13 edition of the Huskies men’s basketball program post a 20-10 record. He appeared in 27 games (three starts) and averaged 3.1 ppg and 1.7 rpg while finishing tied for fifth in steals (25). Evans shot 48 percent from the field.

"RJ brings a wealth of winning playing experience to our program and has played for some of the games’ great coaches," said Nichols coach Tom Glynn. "RJ will immediately help with player development and serve as a terrific role model for all of our players."

Upon graduating from UConn, Evans played one year professionally for the Durham Wildcats in the United Kingdom. He is expected to receive his Master of Science in Management from Durham University Business School in May, 2015.

Evans resides in Salem, Conn.
